A descendant of Kjarvall, Viking king of Dublin, and his Celtic wife, she has been following the sacred customs of her ancestors for 30 years. A regular at psychic fairs throughout Texas, Elka specializes in the ancient form of divination known as the runes. For nearly two millennia, the runes have been used for prophecy, healing and magic throughout Northern Europe. Always intrigued by diverse alphabets and oracles, Elka came face-to-face with runic inscriptions and monuments while attending the University of Uppsala in Sweden. Studying with both scholars and shamans, she has extensively researched the runes’ strong association with dreams and trance states. She is a solitary practitioner of sie∂r, the shamanistic magical system of the Norse and Germanic heathens. A true believer in the power of Huldrafolk (hidden beings), Elka designs and performs rituals of all kinds, including ones to bless and heal people, animals, places and things. She helps clients align themselves with their personal guardian or fylgja. She also makes rune sets and creates ceremonial and art objects. In addition to public appearances and lectures, Elka gives private rune readings, teaches classes, conducts workshops, and writes articles about runecraft and Nordic lore.
